The School of Studies in Mathematics
was established in 1991. Since then, the School has been growing continuously
in terms of educational programmes and infrastructure. From the very inception
this school is one of the most active research center of mathematical sciences
in Chhattisgarh. The school has its own building with adequate facilities for
teaching and research. From 1994 the school is supported by NBHM Library Grant.
In 2010-11, the school came under the umbrella of DST-FIST programme.
School of Studies in
Mathematics focuses on emerging trends in mathematics leading to fulfill the
requirements of our society. Under the active guidance of dedicated faculty
members the school is gradually emerging as an excellent centre for Research
and Teaching in the areas of Nonlinear Analysis, Cryptography, General
Topology, Best Approximation Theory, Fuzzy set theory, Fuzzy Logic and
Applications etc. Our goals and endeavors are aimed to elevate our institution
to the level of world class University. Moreover, our sole objective is to
fulfill the promises made in Vision 2020.
Academic
Activities:
The School of Studies in
Mathematics regularly organizes a number of seminars and guest lectures. Our
School of Studies also provides consultancy to various educational institutions
and research labs. Faculty members of the School also provide counseling
services to the students appearing NET/GATE/MTTS Programs/State PSC/UPSC.
Pedagogy:
The state of art of
enquiry in the subject matter is to nurture amongst students for advance
learning and to acquaint them with recent developments in Mathematics. The
emphasis is on action learning like to handle real world problems, provide
innovative concepts and mathematical models to industrial needs, field work and
to create a challenging environment. The overall scenario is aiming towards
creating a knowledge based society.
i) To increase the
productivity, technical and vocational efficiencies.
ii) To cultivate social,
moral and aesthetic values as well as to develop sense of duty and
responsibility
iii)To develop overall
personality through NSS, sport, cultural activities, debate, group discussions
etc.
iv) To promote research
activities in mathematics and to foster economic growth of the region.
Curriculum updated periodically,
flexibility to design curriculum that caters the goals of the SOS.
