Centre for Herbal Drug Technology (CHDT) has been established by University at University Institute of Pharmacy in 2015 for development and sustainable utilization of the valuable Medicinal and Aromatic Plant resources of Chhattisgarh. Herbal drug technology is used for converting botanical materials into medicines, where standardization and quality control with proper integration of modern scientific techniques and traditional knowledge is important. 

The main field activities of the CHDT cover the following areas:-

·         To utilize the valuable Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Chhattisgarh, primarily to improve livelihood opportunities.

·         Research on development of best suitable option for herbal formulation.

·         Quality control assessment and research on active ingredients and substances of medicinal and aromatic plants.

Ø Identification of crude drugs using pharmacognostic techniques

Ø Isolation of markers for standardization of herbal products

Ø Bioactivity guided fractionations of herbs to isolate their bio-active compounds

Ø Development of extraction procedures for medicinal plants

Ø Isolation of phytochemicals of high purity for use as chromatographic reference standards

·         Research on genetic improvement of Medicinal and Medicinal Plants.

·         Newer approaches utilizing collaborative research and modern herbal drug technology in combination with traditional health principles.

·         Co-ordination of activities of institutions/ departments engaged in development of medicinal and aromatic plants in Chhattisgarh.

·         Revitalization of traditional knowledge and the ancients' Indian medicine system, Ayurveda.

·         To encourage low cost production of herbal Products.

·         To create new Employment generation capacity for rural as well as community.

To be an nationally recognized center of excellence in the research, development, documentation and promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant resources of Chhattisgarh for sustainable integration into the national healthcare delivery system.

EVENT ORGANISED

Centre for Herbal Drug Technology (CHDT) organized webinar on “Enabling statistical Discovery” dated 14th July 2020 which was inaugurated by honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. K.L.Verma. The expert was for the webinar is Mr. Muralidhar from Bangalore. Event was coordinated by Prof. Swarnlata Saraf and moderator of event was Dr. Amber Vyas.

FACILITIES IN CENTRE

CHDT is having basic infrastructure and instrument facility for performing the research on development and standardization of herbal drug formulation.
