Dear Students and Parents,
Since the initiation of the M Sc Biotechnology program in 2004, we have been
committed to nurturing talent and conducting research that holds significant
societal relevance. Every year, we select bright fertile minds of
undergraduate and postgraduate levels through Separate Entrance Examinations
for their admission in M Sc and Ph D Biotechnology programs, respectively.
Their curriculum has been tailored to equip them with the skills and
knowledge necessary for success in the various realms of biotechnology.
Biotechnology is inherently interdisciplinary, involving insights from
various subjects.
Our curriculum reflects this ethos, integrating
basic
sciences with their applications in medicine, diagnostics, bioprocess,
environmental sciences, and many others. We regularly review and update our
curriculum to keep pace with the latest advancements in the field.
The beauty of our educational philosophy is hands-on learning, with nearly
half of the coursework dedicated to practical sessions in the well-equipped
laboratories. Through seminars, project presentations, and independent
thinking, students develop not only technical knowledge but also
communication skills.
Additionally, we encourage the students to pursue their passions and carve
out niches in different fronts of biotechnology through last semester
projects at prestigious national-level institutes, research centres, etc.
Further, I would like to highlight the opportunities in research and
entrepreneurship in biotechnology. Our faculties are actively engaged in
research areas such as biofuels, nanobiotechnology, environmental
biotechnology, mushroom technology, in vitro plant propagation, secondary
metabolites and more. Their work is regularly published in nationally and
internationally acclaimed journals.
They also have the potential to
translate breakthrough research into tangible solutions that impact lives.
On behalf of the entire School, I would like to assure you that we are not
just a centre of higher studies; instead, we are a community of passionate
individuals with the common goal of imparting quality education, pursuing
quality research, and empowering you to become successful professionals and
responsible citizens.
